Residential construction using timber and engineered wood building systems is rapidly becoming the future to meet the challenges of increased density and height of housing. Developers and builders of medium-density and infill construction are moving to these building systems to achieve increased speed of construction, reduced labour on-site and higher quality buildings, with up to 25% reduction in overall development costs.
The opportunities of timber frame and engineered wood building systems were comprehensively discussed at the Frame Australia 2015 conference held June 1, 2015 at Park Hyatt Melbourne.
Business Development Manager and Senior Engineer, Archav Jalilian (Archie), from our Melbourne office took part in this conference. Based on his knowledge and experience Archie was invited to participate as a panel member. During the ‘Building Codes and Engineering Design’ session he was given the chance to share his professional opinion and feedback. Robert Nestic, Structural Engineer at Tim Gibney & Associates and Timber Designer/Director of Timber Imagineering, accompanied him on the panel.
