Structerre Appoints New CEO

26th October 2023

We are pleased to announce the appointment of John Gelavis as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Gelavis has more than 30 years’ experience in the construction sector, having most recently served as Executive Director of the Master Builders Association WA, as well as holding numerous leadership positions across the industry.

His appointment comes as Structerre Founder Gervase Purich turns his focus to efforts associated with parent company, Five Group, in his role as Managing Director.

Gervase was pleased to welcome John to the helm of the company as it looks to further expand its interests in residential engineering.

“I congratulate John on his appointment as CEO. This transition marks a significant milestone in our journey, and we are confident that his wealth of expertise will be invaluable as the company looks to grow in new areas and reach new heights. As a respected and committed industry leader, John is well placed to lead Structerre through its next chapter,” Mr. Purich said.

Gervase hands over a legacy of more than four decades of excellence and innovation in engineering, a space that he will continue to drive and support from a technical and strategic standpoint. Under his leadership, Structerre has expanded from its Perth headquarters to a national footprint of 10 offices, employing over 300 team members and spearheading technological and environmental stewardship.

Mr. Gelavis commented: “I am truly honoured to accept this role with Structerre, particularly at a time when the industry is needed to play a pivotal role in addressing housing and environmental challenges. The significant work of Structerre could not be achieved without contributions and support of the team, the businesses we work with and sector overall. I look forward to working with everyone to maximise the impact of Australia’s leading structural engineering firm.”

Mr. Gelavis will take the reins as Structerre Consulting’s CEO effective 2 November 2023.
